Architectural showcase of new medical and health settings revealed

LONDON: A fresh architectural showcase of new medical and health settings has been released today.

ERDMAN: The Inpatient Rehabilitation Center at LVHN Muhlenberg offers a welcoming environment for maximum recovery and regaining the highest level of independence. Designed by ERDMAN, the center includes 28 private rooms (some with telemetry beds), a therapy gym, advanced technical equipment, and an activities-of-daily-living suite.

Hord Coplan Macht: Stella Maris is a nonprofit, comprehensive care facility, offering health and residential services for care of the elderly. Their new Sister Mary Karen McNally, RSM, Rehabilitation Center, designed by Hord Coplan Macht, expands their campus by creating a state-of-the-art subacute facility that provides cutting-edge rehabilitative therapy.

JE Dunn: JE Dunn recently teamed up with ESa to complete the new Mercy Iowa City Rehabilitation Hospital, which provides care for patients recovering from stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, and amputation. The two-story, 53,000 SF facility features 40 patient beds, along with gymnasiums outfitted for high-tech therapy devices and treatments, a dedicated brain injury unit complete with monitored rooms, specialized beds and patient lifting equipment; and separate therapy and dining spaces. Since the building is located on an undocumented fill site, JE Dunn partnered early with the owners and design partner to find the most economical and expeditious foundation system. The solution allowed the facility to be constructed on budget in 11.5 months, which was a crucial factor for Mercy.

RLF: RLF recently developed a new 110,500 GSF community living center prototype for the Florida Department of Veterans Affairs provides a life-affirming, nurturing environment for 120 veteran residents. The FDVA Ardie R. Copas State Veterans Nursing Home is a one-story solution divided into two distinct neighborhoods with three 20-room households embracing the values of person-centered care.

SmithGroup: SmithGroup completed a renovation of the MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit. This renovation allows Good Samaritan Hospital to meet modern evidence-based design standards for rehabilitation. The unit houses 50 private rooms and advanced therapy spaces proven to improve patient recovery and outcomes, including a mock street with crosswalk, curb cuts, front door, car, grocery store, and a full working apartment.

ZGF: The Heights at Mt. View, designed by ZGF, is a 7-story long-term care facility for senior/aging patients who require various levels of elevated care outside of a traditional acute care hospital. The 24/7 facility includes licensed dementia housing suites and flexible spaces to support a range of care, from normal aging conditions, to the deterioration in cognitive functions and chronic medical conditions.
