Downsizers tower with ‘sky garages’ planned for beachside site

MELBOURNE: A luxury tower with some incredible hi-tech features has been unveiled for a site next to one of the Gold Coast’s most famous beaches.

The 23-storey tower, known as The Monaco, is planned for a site on Main Beach’s Macarthur Parade and will feature 11 three-bedroom apartments with a mix of single-level full-floor villas and double-storey sky-villas.

Put forward by Gold Coast-based developer Ignite Projects it features the southern hemisphere’s first car lift and “sky garages”.

Ignite Projects Managing Director Josh Foote says the car lift would be the first of its kind in the southern hemisphere.

Mr Foote said it would allow residents to access a car park within their apartment.

“The car lift provides a non-conventional approach to carparking allowing residents to drive their car into the lift located in at ground-level before being elevated to their apartment where they can drive into their sky garage; a car showroom located within the apartment dwelling surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows framing views of the coastline extending to Surfers Paradise,” he said.

“In addition, the private outdoor bathing area complete with a deep bathtub and shower creates an air of indulgence with lush tropical foliage providing shade and privacy while framing ocean views.”

A development application was filed earlier this week

It was designed by Rothelowman Architects.
