Free Zoom series for caregivers of those with dementia

LONDON: A free participation Zoom series for caregivers of those with dementia has been created.

Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital Foundation’s Alzheimer’s Outreach Program (AOP) is offering no-cost Zoom series aimed at helping caregivers of those with dementia.

The “Essential Tools for Caregivers of those with Dementia” classes are designed for family caregivers of persons with cognitive impairment and/or dementia. The classes will provide caregivers with essential tools to plan and manage for their and their loved ones’ needs and will open-up doors to obtain needed information and assistance. Caregivers may take one or more classes consistent with their needs and interests.

This free series will be offered via Zoom on four Mondays: Feb. 15, 22 and March 8, 15 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Classes include:

February 15
Caring for the Caregiver
Meet others who understand the daily challenges you are experiencing and learn why self-care is the key to successfully caring for your loved one.

What every dementia caregiver needs to know about legal planning and financial affairs:
• finding legal and financial services that fit your needs and budget
• what are the planning documents needed and how are they used
• what you need to know about estate planning
• avoiding financial scams
• conservatorships and guardianships
• what’s covered by Medicare, what is Medi-Cal, and what does this mean for financial decision-making
