Major healthcare brand to switch from clinics to in-home care

LONDON: A major healthcare clinic brand is set to abandon bricks and mortar settings for in-home care.

“It’s conceivable that over the next one to two years, a variety of our care delivery services — primary care offerings, pharmacy, in-home care and more — could also be brought under the CenterWell brand. No final decisions have been made on these moves,” Humana spokesman Cary Willis said.

CenterWell is Humana’s new brand that unites a broad range of payer-agnostic healthcare services for seniors. The company’s Orlando-based Family Physicians Group and Partners in Primary Care — which operates in several states — will be the first facilities to operate under the recently launched brand.

Humana has expanded its healthcare capabilities in recent years to better serve its medical members with the promise of delivering better quality healthcare and outcomes, lower costs and more personalized care to clients.

CenterWell will operate under a value-based care model, looking at the whole person when treating a patient. That might mean bringing in a nurse practitioner, a behavioral health specialist, a social worker, pharmacist and support staff to care for the patient.

Willis said that team approach will help “address all the factors that go into helping patients achieve their best health — including mental health, food insecurity and housing.”

CenterWell is on a growth spurt. Over the next year Humana plans to add 20 facilities to the 41 it is already operating. The company hopes to operate more than 100 by 2023. The clinics are currently located in underserved communities across Florida, Missouri, South Carolina and Texas. Over the next several months the brand will open locations in Georgia, Louisiana, and Nevada.
