New development mix set to target multiple sub-markets
LONDON: A new development mix is set to target a series of mini markets within a single envelope.
Construction is expected to break ground this summer on Georgia King Village, a new construction project in Newark‘s Fairmount neighborhood with affordable housing, residences for the formerly homeless, and a community healthcare clinic with social services for at-risk populations. Development partners include University Hospital, L+M Development Partners, as well as various state and city agencies. Inglese Architecture + Engineering is responsible for the design.
Components of 4-70 Littleton Avenue include a ground-floor clinic and office space operated in partnership with University Hospital, and 78 affordable housing units for low- and moderate-income residents, including 16 apartments designated for the formerly homeless. The state’s Department of Community Affairs will support the 16 units designated for homeless residents through project-based rental vouchers. Newark’s Housing Authority is also supporting the project with 30 rental vouchers.
As reported by ROI-NJ, the $41.4 million development is sponsored by the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency.
Construction is expected to be completed by spring 2023.
