New housing development for adults with disabilities and seniors coming soon

LONDON: A new affordable housing development for adults with disabilities and seniors called Jordan’s Place is breaking ground in Marshfield on Thursday at noon.

It’s a housing project that WC CapeAbilities and the Webster County SB 40 board have worked on for years to bring to the community. Jordan’s Place is named after Jordan Estes-Fenner. Jordan’s mom said Jordan died of suicide back in 2015 after getting hit by a drunk driver and suffering a traumatic brain injury. His mom said he took his life after the accident because he felt useless after the wreck.

Fenner said she hopes this housing development gives others hope that Jordan didn’t have after his accident.

“One thing that is so lacking for anybody with any type of disability is affordable housing. Everyone deserves a place to live that’s safe and good. Imagine this: You’re going to have homeless seniors and all sorts of neuro-divergent communities from Webster County walking into a brand new home,” Fenner said.

She also said the housing project will have plenty of amenities for the elderly and people with disabilities.

“It’s going to be set up where there’s like four duplexes they’re not going to be all together. It’ll be within a ci, circle, and they have two bedrooms, they have a full bath, and every one of them is handicap accessible.”

She said it’ll be able to house around 40 to 80 individuals.

The groundbreaking ceremony is at noon on West Washington Street in Marshfield, next to the Mercy Clinic. Learn more about Jordan’s Place and the Webster County SB 40 board’s website. You can also contact WC Partners to find out if you’re eligible and see how the application process works.
