Seniors can sign up for Farmers Market Nutritional Programme
COLUMBUS: A new initiative links seniors and a sponsored farmers market nutritional programme
The 2020 Senior Farmers Market Nutritional Programme, funded by the USDA and the Ohio Dept. of Aging, is again being administered by Family & Community Services. The program helps meet the nutritional needs of seniors as well as offers support for local farmers.
This programme provides income-eligible seniors with $50 worth of coupon vouchers that can be used at approved farm markets. Due to COVID-19, there have been modifications to the programme. There will be no mass distribution, but applications will instead be distributed via mail and email. In addition they will be available at most of the senior housing apartment offices, the Reed Memorial Library curbside pickup option, and various non-profit organizations. Coupons are awarded on a first come, first serve basis.
