Best seniors supportive housing design for Global Awards shortlisted
LOS ANGELES: The shortlist for the best senhttps://seniors-housing.net/weekly/wp-admin/users.phpiors supportive housing design has been declared.
Over 250 designs have been considered by the awards secretariat. One of the finalists in this category is detailed here.
Kamloops council will be reviewing a rezoning application this week for a proposed BC Housing supportive housing project on three properties on the North Shore.
On Tuesday, councillors will give initial consideration to changing 327 and 321 Fortune Drive and 285 Leigh Road to the Multi-Unit 4 – Medium–High Density zone.
They will also be asked to consider a site-specific amendment to limit the maximum density to 145 dwelling units per hectare.
That works out to 54 total units in a four-storey building.
BC Housing announced the proposal earlier this month.
Final design work has yet to be done but city staff provided a rendering of the project.
The goal is to provide housing for people who have experienced homelessness and need 24/7 support to maintain their housing, a staff report says.
“These homes would be deeply affordable studio apartments for people who need support to maintain their housing,” says an update from BC Housing.
“Residents would be single adults (19+) of all genders, including seniors and people with disabilities.”
The Global Award winner will be announced in December in London. (Globals)
