Nursing home to be incorporated into purpose built neighbourhood

LONDON: A nursing home is to be built into a new housing development and neighbourhood centre.

Tinwat Holdings has been granted approval for a substantial housing project that promises to transform the local community. This new initiative includes the construction of 115 residential units, a 90-bedroom nursing home, alongside a vibrant neighbourhood centre featuring a cafe and pharmacy. This announcement marks the commencement of the project’s ambitious second phase, following the green light for a new private hospital earlier this year.

Strategically positioned at Moyross Avenue, near the newly developed Coonagh to Knockalisheen Road, this project is set to redefine the northern edge of Moyross. Among the approved residential units, there are 34 two-storey, three-bedroom homes, six four-bedroom homes spanning two storeys, and another six four-bedroom homes across three floors. Additionally, 27 three-storey three-bedroom units are planned, ensuring a diverse range of housing options for potential residents. The proposed four-storey neighbourhood centre will house a 42 two-bedroom apartment block, complete with a communal roof garden designed for the elderly, enhancing the community’s inclusivity and appeal.

The inclusion of a nursing home, to be operated by Mowlam Healthcare, is poised to create 90 new jobs, contributing significantly to the local economy. Furthermore, the earlier approved private hospital, set to be managed by UPMC, is expected to add another 200 positions. With construction anticipated to begin this summer, the project’s phased approach ensures a structured development process, culminating in the nursing home’s completion. Tinwat Holdings’ initiative not only promises new housing but also aims to bolster Moyross’s economic landscape through job creation and enhanced healthcare facilities.
Community and Environmental Considerations

Council planners have endorsed the project, subject to 34 conditions, highlighting a commitment to sustainable development practices. Notably, one of these conditions mandates that 10% of parking spaces be allocated for electric vehicles, reflecting an environmental consciousness within the project’s planning. The inclusion of a chemist with a drive-through dispensary window, a coffee shop, and a convenience retail unit within the neighbourhood centre aims to provide essential services while fostering a sense of community among residents.

As Moyross looks forward to the realization of this significant housing and community development, the project represents a beacon of hope and progress. It not only offers new living spaces and job opportunities but also promises to enhance the quality of life for all residents. With a focus on sustainable and inclusive development, Moyross’s future seems brighter and more vibrant, setting a precedent for similar initiatives across the region.
