Startup provides platform for self managed healthcare at home services

MELBOURNE: A starup has perfected a platform which allows for self managed healthcare at home services to proliferate.

PlanCare was founded by Dave Newman in 2021, with the Federal Government-approved platform — which enables self-managed healthcare-at-home services — already servicing 1000 clients across Australia.

Mr Newman said the business was self-funded until recently and had managed to identify clear growth opportunities.

“This round of capital and (Purpose Venture’s) input will allow us to provide our platform and support to more clients in Australia in the aged care and disability sector,” he said.

Purpose Ventures has committed 70 to 80 per cent of its investments go towards WA-founded and operated businesses, with managing director Derek Gerrard describing the State as an exciting place to build a company.

In the case of PlanCare and Paperly, Mr Gerrard added the companies had strong conviction in the markets they were operating in.

“There’s lots of innovation and amazing people (in WA) and sometime their growth or opportunities are being stifled by the lack of capital,” Mr Gerrard said.

“We have a State Government that is being far more proactive than we’ve ever seen in terms of their support for the startup industry.

“With the likes of Purpose Ventures bringing active venture capital online, it makes it clear for WA founders there is WA money that wants to support them, back their ideas and help them scale up.”
