Housing entity has released eight new off-grid cabins

LONDON: A housing entity has released eight new off-grid cabins aimed at downsizing baby boomers.

Wander through the forests and step back into your wooden safe haven to recharge and reset at Unyoked off-grid cabins.

Described as “nature as you need it”, these cosy cabins are in secluded locations only a short drive from the Gold Coast.

Unyoked founder Cam Grant said the cabins are scientifically proven to lower your cortisol levels (your main stress hormone) leading you to stress less and rebound quicker.

Looking for a new favourite coffee spot? It’ll be on your deck. New breakfast spot? Under the wise tree next to the cabin. Hiking trail? Explore the property.

The landscapes which surround each of the locations are said to encourage creativity by up to 50 per cent and “make you feel close to others and the world around you”.

“Everything from the way you arrive and park the car to the first view of the cabin and how it’s situated has been consciously designed to maximise these feelings,” Mr Grant said.

“It helps you get the benefits in the quickest and most effective way.

“From waking up with nature staring at you through the windows, slowing down by hand-grinding your coffee, having nothing except the sound of birds and wind in the trees, staring at stars you’ve never seen and feeling time slow down as you look around the immersive nature surrounding you.

“The entire experience puts things into perspective, clears your mind and gives us a bit of adventure we’re lacking in modern life,” he said.

Unyoked recently launched eight new cabins in Queensland, adding to their 50 locations across Australia.

The Maroon, Byron Bay Hinterland, Flinders Lakes and Moogerah cabins are all within a two-hour drive from the Gold Coast.

Each location is rated by spice levels, medium, mild, extra spicy and the Pana cabin in the Byron Bay Hinterland is the perfect example.

The cabin is hidden away in a lush rainforest where you can rewind in your outdoor wood-fired bathtub or adventure through the creek crossing on your property.

Unyoked prepared an expedition packing list which includes shoes, mosquito repellent, water bottle, sunscreen, a flanno and no spreadsheets, anxiety or busyness.

“There’s a lot that goes into the assessment in creating the cabins but the main one, and something unique to Unyoked, is a kind of elusive one we call ‘wilderness vibe’,” Mr Grant said.

“It’s that feeling when you look up at a mountain, or see the sun setting on the forest and have that tingle at the base of your neck, faint smile at the corner of your eyes and time slows down a bit.

“That’s what it’s all about really, connecting people with that feeling only nature gives us, and all its benefits, easily and regularly,” he said.

Mr Grant said 92 out of 100 guests of Unyoked said their experience positively impacted their wellbeing.

“Studies have proven nature decreases our cortisol levels, increases creativity and problem solving, makes us feel happier and even more connected to those around us,” he said.
